Join us for a silent movie special evening!  Gary McGath returns to provide live keyboard accompaniment for his 17th silent film at the Plaistow Library.  Today we will be showing D.W. Griffith's 1924 silent movie "America".  In Lexington, Mass., in the mid-1770s, British renegade officer Capt. Walter Butler (Lionel Barrymore) struggles to enlist the aid of Indians against the tide of colonists rebelling for independence. Meanwhile, impoverished farmer Nathan Holden (Neil Hamilton), who is in love with aristocrat Nancy Montague (Carol Dempster), reluctantly joins the Patriots -- only to find himself eventually battling Nancy's stern father, Justice Montague (Erville Alderson), and arrogant brother, Charles.  This film is not rated and has a runtime of 141 minutes.
